I first discovered my love for digital media in 2016 when I auditioned to become a segment host on my Middle School morning news show. It was called "Keeping the Peace With Reece," where I would poke fun a stories in the media.
I upgraded my love for media by becoming the Main Host for my High School morning show. In addition to this position, I wrote, filmed, and edited "Around D-Town," a segment that discussed local events happening every weekend in my hometown. This was my first encounter with Adobe Premiere Pro, and my skills with the program evolved from here.
In addition to video editing, I dove into the world of photo editing. I took a class that taught Adobe Photoshop, which helped unleash my creativity. These experiences throughout High School encouraged me to pursue a degree in the digital arts.
I attended Ithaca College in the Park School of Communications and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Television and Digital Media in 2023.
Here, I indulged in a variety of classes including Editing, Advanced Studio Production, Writing for Screen Media, and more! Aside from my studies, I engaged in working on ICTV, Ithaca College's student run television station. Roles I have worked on include:
I set out to showcase my skills in a professional environment, so I worked as a Summer Content Associate at MLB Network. At MLB Network, I edited short clips and highlight reels for Little League Baseball and Softball games in real time. One of these highlights made it on Sports Center's Top Ten Plays! This experience taught me how to make engaging content in real time using Adobe Premiere.
Following this experience at MLB Network, I set off to study in Los Angeles for my senior semester. In Los Angeles, I had the opportunity to work at Fox Sports as a highlights intern. I enjoyed seeing a new side of the sports industry, as I logged various sporting events such as NFL, MLB, and NHL games. While I logged games, I wrote detailed shotsheets with timestamps for key plays so the highlights editor could make an effective and engaging video for after the game. This experience helped me multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Along with the position at Fox Sports, I worked as an Intern at Ocean Front Entertainment, a film production company. Being an Intern at Ocean Front Entertainment gave me hands-on experience in setting up film, audio, and lighting equipment for a variety of projects. I enhanced my skills in Adobe Premiere and photoshop by making content for the company's social media to help advertise them to new clients.
I moved to Pittsburgh after college to seek opportunities to help my career flourish! I started my post-college career working as the jumbotron operator for the Washington Wild Things, where I would manage in-game content such as player headshots and commercials. I also would occasionally design graphics for games played between innings using Adobe Photoshop, and teach our intern class how to operate the jumbotron.
During this time, I landed a role on the Icebreakers Promo Squad for the Pittsburgh Penguins. This position was my introduction to in-game entertainment. As an Icebreaker, I lead the execution of fan-focused activities including the t-shirt toss, intermission games, and other fan-engagement activities.
I later transferred my skills learned from the Wild Things and Penguins over to the Pittsburgh Riverhounds, where I currently work as a Hype Squad Captain and Production Assistant. On Riverhounds game days, I am either assigned to help with engaging fans, or press box operations. When the Riverhounds are not taking the field, I help with the Riverhounds social media. I am a photographer at Riverhounds promotional events, and occasionally create memes that are posted on their Instagram and TikTok accounts.
Most recently, I have been promoted to Director of Entertainment with the Pittsburgh Thunderbirds, a professional ultimate frisbee team that competes in the Ultimate Frisbee Association (UFA). In this role, I am responsible for directing all gameday operations from up in the press box, to make sure that all fans have a positive and memorable experience at Highmark Stadium. Other responsibilities in this role include the management of our brand new internship program and designing graphics for social media/jumbotron.
